The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) works to reduce new HIV infections in Toronto and promotes the independence, dignity, health and well-being of people living with HIV and AIDS and those at increased risk of HIV.
In 2014 ACT decided to redevelop their website to provide a modern digital space that conformed to AODA and W3C accessibility standards and supporting browsing from mobile and tablet devices. ACT had also experienced difficulty in managing their website and so required a easy-to-use CMS that would allow them to manage their website in-house.

Solution
Sandbox assisted ACT by providing best practice suggestions and tools to audit and manage a content review. We also provided direction on how to effectively write for the web and search engines. The new website was built in the OASIS CMS and a custom, responsive design was applied to modernize the look and feel. The new website features font resizing, print-friendly pages, and is integrated with Google Translate help make content more accessible for ACT's diverse audience. Sandbox also integrated the new website with AKA Raisin, an online fundraising platform for not-for-profit organizations. This feature allows users to make a one-time or monthly donation.
Outcome
The new ACT website includes an events calendar, programs and services pages and is integrated with the organization's social media channels. It has become a major tool in helping showcase targeted programming and services to specific communities in order to realize optimal health outcomes. The website continues to provide meaningful engagement for people living with HIV/AIDS across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to this day.
