St. Joseph’s Health System (SJHS) are leaders in integrated care and one of the largest corporations in Canada devoted to delivering care across the health continuum. The health system encompasses five cities, with over fifteen thousand staff serving a population of over 2 million. SJHS is the creator of the Integrated Comprehensive Care (ICC) model, which is transforming patient care and outcomes.
In 2019 Sandbox was awarded the opportunity to redevelop the sjhs.ca website.
- Use responsive design to modernize the look and feel of the website

- Redevelop the website using the WordPress content management system to allow for an intuitive content management experience for web administrators
Solution
As part of our digital strategy, Sandbox reviewed website analytics, social media usage and interviewed several stakeholders to gather opinions on what should be included on the new website. We created a custom, clean responsive design that reflected the health system's existing branding guidelines. Leveraging the Google Map API, Sandbox developed a custom, interactive map that displays the various hospitals and facilities that are part of St. Joseph's Health System. A private portal was also created for the Board of Directors, where they can review agendas, store meeting minutes and more.
Outcome
The new St. Joseph's Health System showcases their membership and partners through a modernized, clean design. The responsive website provides a seamless user experience regardless of the device or browser being used. Social media integration has enhanced the Health System interaction with their audience, and the installation of Google Analytics provides web administrators with insights into how their audience is interacting with the website.

Built in the WordPress CMS, the new sjhs.ca is a lot easier to maintain than it's predecessor. Website administrators can now effortlessly create new pages, manage page components and complete routine maintenance and updates without the need for a developer.

The new website was built to comply with AODA and WCAG 2.0 regulations. Our custom designs were cognizant of colour contrast, page layout and text size and placement to ensure accessibility standards were met or exceeded.
